Teresa Arroyo (Spagna)
Teresa Arroyo is a Spanish visual artist and freelance illustrator based in Brussels.
She was born under the sun of the Spanish winter 29 years ago (1987) Since she was a kid Teresa always felt the need to go away from her small city to explore new places. She lived in Madrid during three years where she graduated in Graphic Design from Istituto Europeo di Design (Madrid 2008). Afterwards she studied Fine Arts in Edinburgh and Granada. She decided to specialized herself in illustration and she moved to Brussels, where she graduated from the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and where she has been living for 5 years now.
She works as a freelance illustrator between Belgium and Spain and her work has been selected in art contests and exhibitions in both countries. On commission, she mostly works on editorial illustrations, children’s and adult ́s books, posters and textile.
But she also loves working on self-initiated side-projects. It’s because of this desire of exploring and researching that she’s currently doing her PhD in “Art et Sciences de l’art” at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and at the Académie Royal des Beaux-Arts, by which she’s carrying out a research about the way in how images can translate stored thought and materialized forget, memory and past.
She collaborates as well with artists from others disciplines. At the moment she is creating a show combining live drawing, illustration, music and storytelling.
